About Us

The library of this new campus was established on September 2003 for the students of Science faculty. Presently, the Chauras campus is running 16 Science and professional departments.  In this campus, apart from the research scholars, about more than 2000 students are studying in different courses in various science, agriculture and professional department. The library is opened for all students, research scholars and teachers of the Chauras and Srinagar Campus. Professional departments have their own departmental library but generally most of the professional students and teachers avail the facilities of this library. The library building is divided in five different sections which are as followed.

  1. Acquisition section:  Documents procured are systematically arranged in the library for easy access. All collected document are classified subject wise for easy literature search after the accession.
     
  2. Text Book Section: After accessioning the books in the acquisition section the text books are relocated in this section for user's direct access. From this section, books are issued to the users for the purpose of reading in the library reading room.
     
  3. Circulation section: Only text books are issued for the users in this section. Books are return by them after a period which is decided by the library. Circulation department performs the following activities:
    • Identifying prospective borrowers
    • The circulation process
    • Conducting inventories and searching for missing books.
    • Assisting readers in the use of the library catalogues
    • Assisting student in the selection of books
    • Maintaining the books –stacks etc.
       
  4. Reference Section:Library also has the reference wing as a separate section. There are a lot of encyclopedias, very useful rare books, dictionaries, bound volume of journals and periodicals etc. Reference service is another way by which library collection is brought to the notice of the users. The reference department also helps users in selecting the document useful to them. The reference department attracts a potential user by its state of the art collection of literature.
     
  5. Reading Room: Library has separate reading room section. For the user's there are seven news papers of local and national level (Hindi and English), 34 magazines (which covers areas of competitive exams, sports, entertainment etc.) and 34 latest journals (in hard copy) etc. available in this section.

Library has also one separate News paper section. In this section there are eight news papers (in bound form) of last six years. A lot of outsiders also avail the facilities of the section.

All the sections are well maintained by the professional staffs that provide different types of services for the library users. Library has enough reading space, comfortable furniture, pleasant environment and sufficient light for the users.

Others library activities are

  • For science schedule cast students a special book bank is available. This book bank has been funded by state government under the special component grant.
  • Collected newspapers and magazine are in bound form since the inception of library).
  • All issues of the Journals are preserved in bound form for last four years.
