REPORT OF THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA (21st JUNE, 2017)

 

 Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (A central University) has celebrated gorgeously the third International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2017. A brief report of which is hereby, submitted in the prescribed proforma provided by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

  1.  In order to prepare the background third International Day of Yoga, Yoga training Camp was conducted by the Department of Naturopathy and Yoga of HNBG University in seven different Schools in Srinagar region from 6/5/2017 to 20/6/2017. The (1) Rainbow public School, Chauras,  (2) Govt. Inter College, Swite (3) Govt. H.S. School, Srikot, (4)Saraswati Vidya Mandir H. Secondary School, Maddi colony, Chauras (5) B.M.P. School, Srinagar, (6) Govt. Inter College, Dikholyun and (7) Govt. Inter College, Srinagar were the thrust areas of Yoga training programme. The Yoga training programme was designed to enhance concentration, memory, value development and increment in the capacity of behavioural adjustment among the school children and adolescents.  In addition to these, Yoga training programme specifically Meditation and Relaxation along with Yogasana and Pranayama training  activity  was also conducted in the Girl Hostels of HNBG University with a view to enhance Health, Harmony and Peace among the post Graduate and Doctoral Students of the University.
  2.  On occasion of the third International Day of Yoga, the Department of Yoga of HNBG University conducted various Health Awareness Programmes through Yoga practice for local as well as needy people of   Srinagar region through Banner, slogan and oral explanation about the suitability, competency and relevance of various yogic processes in the protection of health.
  3.  In order to create a striking and diversified background of third International Day of Yoga, the programme of Essay and Drawing Competition among the   School Children was conducted.  This one has increased awareness about Yoga and its benefits in human life among the school going children.  Students were given prizes on 21st June, 2017 by the Chief guest third International Yoga Day for their best performance after judgment by a Departmental committee of the Department of Yoga, HNBGU.
  4.  Considering the importance of the programme, this year HN B Garhwal University decided to celebrate the the third International Yoga Day simultaneously in its three campuses i.e., Srinagar, Pauri and Tehri along with Rishikesh for its approachable meditational ambiance especially for the visitors outside the country. University constituted separate committee for separate places with a view to celebrate the programme successfully. In all of the aforesaid places, Yoga training programme was started gorgeously at 7.00 A.M. on 21 June, 2017 in accordance with the protocol of International Yoga Day and continued up to 8.00 A.M. A huge number of people participated in this programme and practiced enthusiastically the various Yogic processes like Yogic sukshma vyama, Suryanamaskar, Asana, Pranayanma , meditation etc.  In Srinagar Campus, the second session of International Yoga Day was designed with lectures on Yoga by distinguished guests which begun from 8.30 A.M. and continued up to 11.00 A.M. The HNBG University invited Sri Atul Kothari, National Secretary, Siksha, Sanskriti Utthan Nyasa, New Delhi  as chief guest and Prof. Kaushal Sharma, Regional Development Study Centre, School of Social Science, Jawahar lal Nahru University, New Delhi as Special guest of  the programme. They delivered their lectures by

Highlighting the crying need Yoga for modern people and relevance of Yoga in present context. Pof. Jawahar lal Koul, the Vice-Chancellor of the University presided programme. Prizes distributed to the outstanding participants by the chief guest, special guest and Vice- Chancellor of the University. The programme ended with vote of thanks given by Dr.A.K.Jha  Registrar  of the University.
