         Besides tesching the faculty of the Geography Department is getively engaged in Research in the following areas:

· Geomophology- River Basin terrain evolution, Land use etc.

· Resource Development, Appraisal, Sustainable development etc.
 
· Socio- economic Geography: Socio-economic transformation, Socio-economic changes, economic activities in Himalayan Region,     etc.

· Geography of Environment- Envirnmental Hazards, Environmental degradation, Pollution, Social Impacts on it etc.

· Urban Geography, Tourism Assessment & Development in Uttarakhand Himalaya, Regional Development and Planning

· Eco- Tourism in Himalaya, Urban Ecology & Development, Agricultural Land use & Development, Population Studies, G.I.S. &     Remote Sensing Studies etc.

· Land Conservation Management, Urbanization & Migration Population & Health, Population & Poverty, Demography of Ethnic and Social Group and other related issues.
