BCC Campus Srinagar

Birla Campus, Srinagar

Birla Campus formerly known as Birla Degree College was established by the efforts of Garhwali people and famous industrialist and philanthropist Sri Madhav Prasad Birla (1918–1990) with the vision of providing higher education opportunities to the people of the Garhwal region. It was founded to meet the growing demand for quality higher education in the area and to cater the educational needs of the local community. Birla Degree College, was initially affiliated with Agra University, now known as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University. As the demand for higher education continued to grow and the educational landscape evolved, in 1973, Garhwal University was established (renamed as Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in 1989) and Birla Degree College eventually became part of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU). The transition to a university campus marked a significant milestone in the college's history and contributed to its expansion and development as an academic institution.

Birla Campus is bifurcated into Main Campus and Chauras Campus by river Alaknanda. Main campus is located in the Srinagar, Uttarakhand’s stretch of NH 7 (former NH-58) connecting Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Joshimath and Badrinath. Chauras Campus is located on the other side of the river connecting NH 7 via a concrete bridge with distance of approx. 4.5 Km from Main Campus.
