The Department of Sociology exists in all the three Campuses of the University-offering teaching in Sociology at Under Graduate and Post Graduate level. Since 2007 the Department has also been offering 'Master of Social Work' (MSW) course.
In addition to the above courses the Department also has Doctoral Degree programme in Sociology conducting research on various social aspects including current social problems, especially regional problems which are important for the planning and regional development of Uttarakhand. The faculty members have published 06 research papers and have participated in 30 Seminars/workshops/conferences during the year 2011-12. The Department has completed one research project sponsored by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL).
