The Department is envisioned to have four kinds of academic programmes to be realized through teaching and research projects:
- English Literature.
- English Language.
- Comparative Literature.
- Translation and Trans-creation of the regional literature.

The CBCS pattern has been introduced since 2012-13 and 2015-16 in PG and UG respectively. Under the CBCS the Department of English is teaching around 3500 students of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. in various courses such as:

- English Communication (AECC)
- Generic Specific Elective (GSE)
- Skill Based Courses
