Brief Information about the Department
The Department of Instrumentation Engineering, erstwhile the University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC), was established in the university in 1991. The department is dedicated to extend an instrumentation culture, in the society, in general, and in the higher education system, in particular, the department helps the academic staff of the University and affiliated colleges in the maintenance, repair, and development of teaching aids; design and fabrication of instruments required for teaching and research; spreading instrumentation awareness; generating manpower at different levels to enable the country to face with the challenges of modern instrumentation; promoting and conducting R & D programs in instrumentation, etc. under it in USIC. The department had been running a four year (eight semesters) B. Tech. degree course in Instrumentation Engineering, since 2000. Presently, the department is offering a four year (eight semesters) B. Tech. degree course in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering (EIE), since 2018.
Facilities/Laboratories: The department, in its USIC, is also offering the major analytical instruments XRD, SEM-EDS, P-E (Ferroelectric) loop tracer with piezometer, Spectroscopic Ellipsometer, ICP-MS, Uv-Vis-NIR Spectrophotometer, Liquid Nitrogen Plant, etc., as Central facility to the researchers.
For the B. Tech. degree program, in Instrumentation Engineering, the department has well equipped labs. The electrical, electronics, control systems, sensors and transducers, microprocessors, industrial instrumentation, process control, PLC and automation, renewable energy, intelligent instrumentation, virtual instrumentation, vacuum and thin film deposition labs, the workshop(s), etc., cover all the important and relevant experimental setups for the running programs.
